Over the years, KAIST has been the driving force and foundation behind the growth of Korea’s industrial sector through its advancements in science and technology. It is truly an honor for me to serve as the President of the KAIST Alumni Association.

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to Chairman Jung Chil-hee, who led the alumni association with dedication and passion over the past four years, despite challenging external circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dear esteemed KAIST alumni,

KAIST is an institution we should always cherish with pride. I firmly believe that the future of KAIST must go beyond Korea and advance and rise to a global level. Achieving this will require significant innovation and effort across various fields, and the alumni association is committed to supporting this journey. I will do my utmost to ensure that KAIST and the alumni association grow organically together.

As a first step, I will work to redefine the role of the alumni association, moving beyond a network for fostering relationships to becoming a platform that creates new value. Currently, we are establishing an alumni management system to gather updated information on alumni, including their career paths. Through this, we aim to create a platform where diverse experiences and expertise of our alumni can be actively shared. We plan to continue developing the Alumni Technology Forum, which has facilitated exchanges between KAIST alumni, current students with technical expertise, and alumni venture capitalists. Additionally, we will foster new opportunities for collaboration and value creation through various other exchanges.

Furthermore, to ensure that KAIST continues to nurture exceptional global talent, we plan to further enhance initiatives like the KAIST Alumni Scholarship Foundation. This initiative will help KAIST students feel gratitude toward their alma mater, which has contributed to their growth. In turn, this gratitude will naturally lead to active participation in alumni association activities, creating a virtuous cycle that ultimately contributes to the school’s development.

KAIST is now making strides toward becoming not only Korea’s best university but one of the world’s leading institutions.

To support this vision, the alumni association will lay a strong foundation for all members connected under the name of KAIST—faculty, students, and alumni alike—to aim for excellence and grow together. I sincerely ask for your unwavering support and encouragement.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all alumni for entrusting me with the role of President of the KAIST Alumni Association. Despite my limitations, I will dedicate myself to the growth and development of both the alumni association and our alma mater.

27th President of the KAIST Alumni Association Lee, Yun Tae
